Your god-daughter is adorable!
I noticed from the EXIF information that you took the picture with an Apple iPhone. I don't know what options there are on the iPhone Camera app, but I would like to say that the picture is very nice. It is both in focus and the lighting was sufficient to capture all the details. It certainly is nice to have apps for capturing memories like these!

The one thing that I would critique however is your use of Photoshop Elements to crop the picture. The cropping around child is the one part of this picture that I really don't like. Framing is okay, but cropping always lessens the picture because cropping involving removing elements from the picture that complete it.

The effect in your picture is that the baby is laying on a big black... nothing.
The other problem caused by the cropping is that it's a soft crop, so in places where her head was turned and was pressed against something which has now been deleted, the crop also took part of the child's face with it also.

I would suggest that you try framing your next picture instead of soft cropping it. You'll find that this will make your pictures really come to life!
To complete this critique I would like to thank you for putting this deviation up for critique, and mention that it has been a pleasure to jot down this criticism for you.
